Yahya Kamalipour, Professor of Purdue University, gave lectures to SFedU students
On September 27 Professor Yahya Kamalipour, the Head of the Department of Communication and Creative Arts at Purdue University Calumet (Hammond, Indiana) and the Director of the Center for Global Studies, arrived at SFedU.
He stayed in Rostov during the whole week. Within first two days Professor Kamalipour delivered to undergraduate and graduate students of journalism department two lectures: “A Brief History of Journalism in the US: From the Colonial Era to the Digital Age” and “The Impact of Media Representations on Our Perceptions of Other Cultures and Nations”.
Besides Professor Kamalipour met students of Roman and Germanic philology department and took part in the international scientific conference “Journalism: History and Modernity” under “Southern Russian Research Readings-2009”. The topic of his presentation was “The Future of Academic Publishing: Digital vs. Print”.
During his visit Professor Kamalipour discussed 3 projects with Russian researchers and administrators: Establishing a Russian Edition of the “Global Media Journal”; Planning the Annual Conference of the Global Communication Association in Rostov, in 2012; and Establishing a Student-Faculty Exchange Program between SFedU and PurdueUniversity.
